last updated on 4/7/2025Big & Rich, Gretchen Wilson Benefits for “Feed the County” (Caribou, ME) –Word came today from Northern Maine’s premier financial institution, Aroostook Savings and Loan’s President, John Swanberg, that they are partnering with Catholic Charities Maine, WAGM-TV8, and Spud Speedway for a benefit concert named, “Feed the County Summerfest”. Aroostook Savings and Loan has agreed to provide the backing to sign Big & Rich, Gretchen Wilson, and Cowboy Troy to perform on August 20th in Caribou at Spud Speedway. “This is a very unique situation where everyone is coming together so 100% of the proceeds from the event will be going to the “Feed the County” project,” said Swanberg. For the past eight years, “Feed the County,” has been a campaign spearheaded by Aroostook Savings and Loan and WAGM-TV8 to promote hunger awareness in northern Maine. “Feed the County,” accepts non-perishable food items and assists with the purchase of food on behalf of Catholic Charities for the 24 food pantries from St. Francis to Wytopitlock, they serve. Swanberg said, “Every dollar above the cost to put on the show will be going to “Feed the County.” With gas and heating oil prices approaching $4 per gallon, people are hurting financially. Having a benefit concert is an excellent way for people to enjoy some awesome music and still give to a great cause.” Feed the County Summerfest concert currently has three nationally recognized performers to headline with advance ticket price just under $50, making it a real value. Swanberg went on to say, “Since 2011 is Aroostook Savings and Loan’s anniversary, the organization wanted to do something unique and meaningful to celebrate 75 years of service to Aroostook County. This was a great way to give back to our community we have grown with all these years.” The financial goal of the benefit concert is to sell 7500 tickets and raise $75,000 to feed the hungry in northern Maine. Organizers are asking everyone to support this worthy cause by purchasing tickets to the concert or make a tax deductible cash donation to “Feed the County Summerfest,” c/o Aroostook Savings and Loan, P.O. Box 808, Caribou, Maine 04736-0808. Businesses who would like to help sponsor “Feed the County Summerfest,” concert can contact Dixie Shaw at Catholic Charities Maine at 207-493-8915. Tickets will go on sale April 15th with early bird pricing at $44.50 for a limited time of two weeks, then pricing will be adjusted to advanced pricing.
