SPUD SPEEDWAY NEWS ARCHIVEDecision on Street Stock Race Resultslast updated on 7/1/2025After the race incident during the feature involving Bobby Anderson and Dana York, the rules committee met and made the following decision. Bobby Anderson will be moved from his 1st place finish to last place in the field, the prize money he would have won will be put into the driver's championship fund and both Bobby and Dana will be placed on probation for 2 active weeks of racing. Dana and Bobby have both been a bit aggressive in their driving styles, and the track feels in the best interest of competition these two drivers need to be put on probation for 2 weeks to defuse any chances of retaliation on the track. Probation means they can race, but they will not get any warning flags for aggressive driving. They will get a black flag and be parked for the weekend automatically. Spud Speedway does not want drivers to get out of hand and cause any harm or injury to other drivers, therefore we feel this is the best way to deal with these circumstances. July 3rd Fireworks, Racing and more!last updated on 6/28/2010This Saturday at 6:00 pm marks the first major event of the summer at Spud Speedway. The Mainely Modifieds will be in town for the 1st time ever to put on a show of skill and speed. These 10-15 year olds will go at speeds faster than our Late Model Sportsmans do. They will race three 25 lap races and invert the entire field each time as they finish. The winner will be the racer with tht best average finish. Then the Quigley Building Supply Late Model Sportsman will have their own 75 lap race to see who the best really is. Saturday night will mark the return of several local drivers for the season. Johnny Albair in the double zero car is coming to prove he still has speed at 70 years old, along with Chris Pangburn from Easton, and the return of Fort Kent's own Austin Theriault. All of these guys will be out to win, but they will have to beat a whole slew of drivers from downstate as several teams are making their way up to tame Northern Maine's Center of Speed and it's local drivers. Jerry Williams, Therran McDougal , and Jeff Willette might have a little to say about anybody else taking the top spot. Racing this season has been very fast and action packed and this Saturday night will surely not disapoint, but as if all that is not enough we have a full card of racing in all divisions, we will also be giving a kids bike away in a nightly drawing, and we will top it all off with a huge fireworks display you can't see anywhere else. Fireworks at a race track are the best because you are so close it seems like you could reach out and touch them. So if you love racing, fireworks, or a little of both, Spud Speedway is the place to be this Saturday Night! Saturday Nights Bomber Race is in the Books
last updated on 6/24/2010The first bomber Race of the season is in the books and Milo Haney came from 2 laps down to build up enough of a lead to hold off Bobby Anderson's late race charge to win. It proved to be a real interesting race as the audience had the say in how many large tires to throw on the start finish line to add an extra challenge to the race. Jason Theriault won the Race your Neighbor race with a souped up 4 cylinder as he knocked off last year’s winner, Keith Thibeau II in his Mustang 5.0 GT. The Quigley's Building Supply Late Models were a little thin on car count but had plenty of action as everyone got to see a side by side battle that lasted for ten straight laps and came down to inches at the start finish line between Jerry Williams and Therran McDougal, oh yeah that was only a heat race. Therran ended up holding Jerry Williams and Jeff Willette to capture the win in the heat and the feature. The happiest winner of the night had to be Donald Rideout when he won a brand new race car that we have been selling tickets to all season. Donald said he would be back this weekend to race Spud Speedway for the first time. Congratulations to all of the winners at the track and if you haven't been out to see all of the side by side excitement you don't know what you’re missing. Be sure to get out to Spud for a great time. Classic Car Show this Saturdaylast updated on 6/24/2010This Saturday marks the first ever Carroll's Auto Sales Show, Shine, And Time car show. We will be hosting a full card of racing and the second leg of the Cary Medical Center Ladies Powder Puff triple crown series. This marks the last chance for any Late models to practice before our huge twin 75 lap races on July 3rd with fireworks. It will mark the return of several LMS drivers back to Spud Speedway. Austin Theriault is scheduled for a return to his home track along with Chris Pangburn of Easton. A surprising return is that of Johnny Albair in the #00 car for the season. He is hoping a few of the"old timers like Ralph Nason, John Phippen, and Boss Hog will return for a Spud Showdown under the lights so they can create their own fireworks on the 4th of July weekend. I guess we will all just have to wait and see who all shows up to one of our 3 premier LMS events this season. Don't forget to mark Labor Day weekend off for our 2nd annual Spud 150 $10,000. LMS race. Tech Shed Scales Right on the Marklast updated on 6/15/2010The scales in our tech shed came into question this past weekend as the tech men found a couple of cars under weight. In fairness to the drivers we thought we should have the scales double checked to ensure a fair outcome. The scales tested out right on the money which produced the following results in the Quigley's Building Supply Late Model Sportsman division. 1st place #99 Jerry Williams, 2nd place #19 Jeff Willette, 3rd place #21 Milo Haney, 4th place #63 Nick Kinney, and 5th place #3 Therran McDougal. last updated on 6/3/2025As the 2010 season is upon us I have posted a new payout structure that pays the entire field of racers a payout. I hope this is better than years past where only the top 5 finishers get paid. We will have a Driver's fund for the end of the year for the points championship as well. You may see a copy of the payouts under the driver's forms area under the driver tab. Bomber Racing & Race Your Neighbor This Sunday
last updated on 6/3/2025The last Sunday race of the season is this weekend at 1:00 It features a full card of racing with a Bomber race and Race Your Neighbor. The action is heating up on the track as more racers are showing up to win the top spots in each division. Last weeks action proved to be great as Dana York edged out Dr Derrick Finnemore and Bobby Anderson in a highly contested Hogan Tire Street Stock race. We will have to see if Bobby or Derrick can knock Dana off the top spot to even up the points chase this week. In the Quigley's Building Supply Late Model division we look forward to the return of #63 Nick Kinney to see what he has for the tracks top division this year. The bomber race always proves to exciting as anyone can take out a basic car and have a great time and put on a show. Remember to buy tickets early online to get in 1 hour early.
